LOG_aLevel: Wave and Water Level Station:

Local wave data are inevitable for validation of spatial wave data measured by special radar systems. Our wave measurement stations collect real-time data by modes of ultrasound propagation. These collected wave or reference data are indispensable for "ground truthing" calibration of the radar systems - enabling them to generate spatial wave data for larger areas.

LOG_aLevel: Wave and Water Level Station.
Based on high technical resolution in combination with accuracy and permanent operational availability the acoustic wave stations contribute significantly to the reliability of the "now-casting" models working with real-time wave data from both systems.
For this task the acoustic wave measurement station LOG_aLevel will be deployed as an intelligent system (see figure: wave measurement station). This system can quickly estimate wave parameter by internal data analyses deriving from real-time raw data recorded with 5 Hz sampling rate.

Non-linear models have to be considered as utterly necessary for reliable forecast of sea conditions. Therefore, the focus is on the development of threshold criteria in order to identify critical sea conditions (e.g. freak waves, storm surge, solitones, infra-gravity-waves, etc.). Those critical threshold criteria derive from measured anomaly-events by means of specific data analysis. The elaborated threshold criteria must be implemented to the models, which enable us to obtain a quick and dependable warning system.
